The piece

Biological growth, then a painter’s answer to it.

This limited series pairs two kinds of making. Each surface was first grown by Andy Cartier from mycelium and natural fibre, then reinterpreted by the Belgian painter Steven De Blieck, who worked colour into and around the grown texture.

The result is a dialogue between colour, texture and living matter: deep blues and turquoise held in the relief that the fungus produced.
